"Sweet sixteen", sounds glamorous, right? But being in Britain and not America, this particular coming of age ranks equally with fifteen, fourteen, twenty-seven, nine, eleven - basically it was no biggy.
Okay so, as of yesterday, I am officially sixteen years old. About time in my opinion. To be honest, the actual age changing malarkey was a bit of an anti climax, like it has been pretty much every year since I was ten. Being an August baby, all of my friends are at least one year ahead of me for about 364 days of the year. This means that I get particularly excited about my birthdays as it just seems like I have to wait longer for my turn! This also means that by the time my birthday comes around, I don't get that wonderful feeling I got when I turned ten (double digits woah!) as I already feel like I am whatever age is coming up (and let's face it, nothing is going to ever beat the thrill of double digits, unless I make it to triple digits..but let's not be hasty), so people say "how does it feel to be X years old?!" it's like "oh, the exact same". I blame whoever decided to make the school year start in September. Now that my birthday is over I have allowed my self-imposed rule of 'no talking about driving lessons or indeed participating in driving lessons, no talking about car shopping, and certainly no talking about leaving for university until Jenny is happily sixteen' to be abolished. So yeah, now car-shopping is on everybodys agenda, while I have to wait for the miserable (okay it won't be miserable, but I want to drive!) year to time out again!
Now is time to exercise my lottery ticket buying rights and make my fortune that way!
