spoiler alert.

today I was in HMV with two friends, and we found a film called 'Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus' so naturally we bought it - what's the worst that can happen? Well, it could be so bad it is an appalling waste of money, but with a 'mega shark' and a 'giant octopus', no matter how bad it is, it absolutely must hold some entertainment. And we were right. It was SO bad that it was SO good. My personal favourite part is when a man looks out of a plane and sees a shark (sorry, not just a shark, a MEGA shark) jumping out of the water towards him, I thought the shark looked crazily happy in this shot, the next shot is of the outside of the plane being demolished by him, the length of the plane doesn't even fill the sharks mouth. Owned. I also particularly enjoyed when the giant octopus felt like hitting something from the sky himself, he effortlessly exploded a fighter plane with a flick of a tentacle. Also, if you honestly can't guess the general story plot of this film and plan on watching it, then I suppose this is a spoiler alert, do not read on. I loved the plot - a 'mega shark' is mysteriously discovered in the ocean at the same time as a 'giant octopus' is discovered in a different area near the beautifully named 'treasure island' military station. After many failed attempts to shoot them down, the amazing plan unfolds to make them fight each other. And yes, you got it, they both mysteriously take each other out at the exact same time - the 'giant octopus' strangles the 'mega shark' at the same time as he dies from blood loss from each tentacle he placed in the sharks mouth only to have severed... Oh and among this there was, obviously, a romance of sorts between the star of the show Debbie Gibson and another marine biologist. The love interest of Debbie is in a submarine when it is twisted and thrown by the 'giant octopus' while Debbie is conveniently in sight with her submarine, as the monsters kill each other so she can go after him. Miraculously he is fine with a little soot on his head (?!?!?!?!?!) so the end scene is sickeningly happy, and obviously, being marine biologists, it involves a beach with the sea (which was before oh-so-perilous), in the background.
